Who We Are?

Background

The Center for Trauma Care and Research Organization (CTRO) was found by Dr. Nil Ean, a Cambodian clinical psychologist, in October 2022. CTRO was then registered with the Ministry of Interior in Cambodia and officially accepted in November 21, 2022 as a local non-governmental organization.

CTRO was formed amid the mental health development in Cambodia is moving forward to positively contribute to the United National’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). CTRO is very committed to provide professional mental health care particularly in the area of psychological trauma to promote the mental well-being of traumatized Cambodian people who are having limited access to professional and specialized trauma care and interventions. CTRO is also dedicated to collaborate with local and international researchers to promote more evident-based interventions for Cambodian context in order to cost effectively health Cambodian population with traumatic experience in the past.

CTRO is operating its missions to promote mental health well-being among Cambodia people who are living with trauma-related mental health disorders particularly vulnerable groups so that they are able to fully contribute to their family and social economic development.

Vision

Cambodian people with traumatic experiences live with better well-being by receiving proper information, professional mental health care, and evidence-based interventions ethically and professionally.

Mission

  • Raise more awareness on psychological trauma and its impacts in the context of personal, family, organizational and social level,
  • Introduce up-to-date evidence-based interventions to and build more trauma resources among mental health professionals,
  • Provide evidence-based trauma intervention to traumatized population in general and vulnerable groups in particular,
  • Conduct scientific study and research on trauma-related mental health problems and disorders in the context,
  • Document and publicize report, case study and scientific evidences onto local and international journals,
  • Advocate new best practices and evidence-based interventions to practitioners, mental health professionals, policy makers, stakeholders and the public,
  • Linkage available and suitable but qualified services.
